Client needs assistance in a guardianship matter.  The alleged incapacitated person (AIP) is the adult son of client's deceased friend.  Client has been caring for the AIP since 2007.  AIP has developmental delays and is unable to manage his finances.  Additionally, client lives in public housing and would like to apply for housing in a safer neighborhood.  In order to do this, client needs to be appointed AIP's guardian so she can add him to her lease.  Doctor is available to provide written testimony.

Client seeks assistance to obtain guardianship for her ex-boyfriend’s adult son. The 25 year-old suffers from schizophrenia and paranoia. He became paralyzed while living with his father at age 16. Client was primary caretaker of child from when he was a newborn to age nine, and child has been living with client since the age of 16. Client has not been in relationship with the father for many years. Both biological parents have drug addictions and cannot care for child. Physician is available to testify or complete a written deposition.
