Partnerships at this level provide significant resources that allow VIP to help a growing number of clients. Philadelphia VIP has partnered with PNC for almost a decade to serve low-income Philadelphia homeowners facing foreclosure, financial ruin and potential homelessness. “PNC and the PNC Foundation are committed to supporting Philadelphia VIP and their focus on foreclosure prevention. The organization is an established national leader dedicated to reducing the effects of the housing crisis and we share in Philadelphia VIP’s commitment to helping the citizens of Philadelphia preserve their homes,” said Nelson Acevedo, Assistant Vice President & Community Consultant for PNC Community Development Banking.
In April 2009, PNC awarded VIP a $10,000 grant to recruit and train volunteer attorneys to participate in the Philadelphia Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program. Since then, VIP has received annual grants from PNC that help VIP say YES to clients at risk of homelessness.
“My volunteer and Board member service to VIP,” said Michael G. Balent, the Chief Counsel of PNC Reality Services, “has been without question one of my most rewarding professional and personal experiences… VIP’s unparalleled commitment to serving low income Philadelphians in need of legal assistance and to providing its volunteer lawyers with the resources needed to successfully complete their assignment is second to none. Philly VIP has been and will continue to be a leader in providing pro bono legal assistance to many low income Philadelphians.”
Thanks to PNC's dedication to pro bono work and their true spirit of service and volunteerism to low-income homeowners in Philadelphia, we are making a difference in our community. Philadelphia VIP appreciates PNC’s considerable and continuous support of our work to achieve access to justice for all.
